Job description
Daland Swim School is seeking a dependable and self-motivated Custodian to help keep our facility clean, safe and operating efficiently. This position requires maintaining a clean and healthy facility by completing various tasks. This can also include mopping & vacuuming floors, disinfecting surfaces and restrooms and emptying trash and recycle cans.
This position is also responsible for performing light maintenance and repairs, assisting in the maintenance of our pool equipment and water quality, following routine cleaning procedures and ensuring the overall appearance of the facility meets our high standards. A general knowledge of maintenance work, proper usage of equipment, and the skillset of a handyperson are also required.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning checks in the restrooms, pool deck, office, and common areas.
- Clean the interior of buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, and windows
- Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office equipment and phones
- Maintain cleaning inventory, making note of when new cleaning supplies are to be re-ordered
- Empty trash and recycling bins
- Perform routine light maintenance and general handyperson tasks throughout the facility.
- Inspect the facility for maintenance or safety concerns and complete repairs as needed.
- Replace lightbulbs, repair fixtures, tighten hardware, and complete minor plumbing or carpentry repairs.
- Keep mechanical rooms, storage areas and maintenance supplies organized.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the building exterior, interior, pool deck, and common areas.
- Set up and move equipment for programs or special events as needed.
- Report larger repair needs or equipment issues to management.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Previous maintenance, facilities, custodial or handyman experience preferred.
- Experience with commercial pool maintenance is preferred but not required (training available for the right candidate)
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in facility maintenance and/or custodial duties preferred.
Schedule:
- 5 days a week (TBD & flexible)
- Weekends as needed (TBD & flexible)
Experience:
- Custodial Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Handyperson Experience: 3 years (Preferred)
Pay: $19.50 – $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
